Gordon Neill
FOUNDER,
OSCAR WINNER
Hot off the presses, Gordon Neill recently competed on Canada’s Got Talent Season 3, and received some very positive feedback. He has walked the walk in front of thousands of people and lived to tell the tale! See the video below:
And now back to the regular content:
Gordon started his career working on various movies and games, eventually winning an Academy Award in 2002 based largely on the strength of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. He can still explain how virtual arrows are stuck into virtual Oliphaunts and remains happy that Timothy Olyphant is safe due to spelling differences.
Gordon then received an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, spending the next 7 years as a bond trader. Upon interviewing for his next long-term position he was told he was too introverted. He then studied the differences between introversion and extroversion (which is in the Introvert’s handbook under “response function”) and finally was hired and told to fix his personality through improv.
Realizing how much fun could be had working on presence, vulnerability and play, Gordon then dove headfirst into the world of theatrical clown, producing several workshops and building up the Toronto-based clown community until eventually starting Sweet Action Theatre. Projections for live theatre attendance were at an all-time high in January 2019 and so Gordon went “all-in”, calling the purchase of a theatre immediately before a global pandemic “a good bit”.
Gordon continues to run Sweet Action Theatre and remains at the job that once labeled him “the introvert’s introvert”. He has surpassed 10 years there and now speaks in front of hundreds of people with ease. He is the embodiment of the philosophy that play is the antidote to fear of public speaking, and he looks forward to meeting you.
